THE LEARNER WALKTHROUGH · SIX STEPS

Make it your own.

Move at your own pace. Open the relevant app screen when you are ready. These guides contain no learner records.

STEP 1 OF 6

Make yourself at home.

Start with your account and understand the program before you share anything.

  1. Sign in with Google or email. Use the same sign-in method you used to create your account.
  2. Open My program and read “Before you begin,” including who reads your final reflection. Select the acknowledgment and choose “Confirm understanding.”
  3. If your mentorship assignment is missing, open My account → Program or contact program coordination. Creating an account does not assign a mentor.
What you should see

You can set your learning focus after confirming your understanding. Mentor feedback requires an active assignment.

Keep in mind

The acknowledgment explains evaluation use. It does not authorize AI to read private conversations.

STEP 2 / LEARNER

Choose your next edge.

My Learning Focus makes the shared four-week structure personal to you.

  1. Choose “Set your learning focus.” Select your priorities from the eight development areas, or choose “Other / special request.”
  2. Describe your starting point and what progress would be useful. If you are not supervising yet, describe a situation you want to prepare for.
  3. Choose a workplace situation, thought experiment, or exploration with your mentor. Add support needs or a special request, then choose “Save my learning focus.”
What you should see

Your saved focus remains private until it is included in a weekly feedback request. Your first complete starting point is preserved when you revise your focus.

Keep in mind

Support notes are included in the sharing preview. Add only what you are comfortable sharing with your assigned mentor.

STEP 3 / LEARNER

Explore. Imagine. Respond.

Each week brings two development areas into one conversation.

  1. Open a week and read the short Culinary Radar learning brief for each area. Open “Sources and limitations” for context.
  2. Choose a supervisory scenario or describe your own. Explain what you would do first, why, and what you would ask or check.
  3. Type your response, or choose “Use voice,” read the recording disclosure, and record. Review the editable transcript. Save your private draft.
What you should see

Both areas have a situation and your reasoning. Thought experiments are a valid way to participate.

Keep in mind

For these draft fields, stopping a recording or reaching two minutes sends audio for transcription. Cancel before sending if you change your mind. Typing is always available.

STEP 4 / LEARNER

Invite another perspective.

One combined weekly request gives your mentor the context for both areas.

  1. After completing both areas, choose “Preview weekly exchange.” Review your learning focus, starting point, support notes, and both responses.
  2. Remove names, confidential workplace details, or anything you do not want to share. Keep working privately if you are not ready.
  3. Choose “Request mentor feedback” to confirm sharing. Check the on-screen confirmation and response due time.
What you should see

The shared snapshot appears in your weekly conversation. The 12-hour response period, including weekends, starts after confirmed sharing.

Keep in mind

Saving a draft does not request a reply. Check the in-app conversation for responses; do not rely on an email notification.

STEP 5 / LEARNER

Keep the thinking moving.

Your mentor’s response is a starting point for further thinking.

  1. Reopen the same week and scroll to “Your mentor exchange.” Read or listen to your mentor’s contribution.
  2. Use “Type instead” or the microphone to add a question, explain a changed view, or discuss a next step.
  3. Return to the other weeks as you progress. Kitchen dish exploration and additional Radar reading can support your chosen priorities.
What you should see

You have a continuing conversation about your reasoning, rather than eight separate assignments. Try the sample exchange below to see how a mentor question can deepen a response.

Keep in mind

Conversation voice recordings are saved with their transcripts and shared with authorized mentors. This differs from the editable draft transcription fields. Program conversations are not automatically processed by Cheffy.

STEP 6 / LEARNER

Put your learning into words.

Your final reflection brings together what you explored and what comes next.

  1. Open “Your final reflection.” Revisit your starting point and respond meaningfully to the three prompts. You can describe what you attempted, reconsidered, or could not yet apply.
  2. Choose “Save my draft.” If useful, open “Cheffy · Optional AI assistance,” choose a task, and preview the exact text before sending it. Review and edit any AI draft.
  3. Choose “Review before submitting,” check the audience and your answers, then confirm and choose “Submit completion reflection.”
What you should see

Your submission completes participation. Find it in My account → Submissions. Your activity visualization shows recorded activity, not a leadership proficiency score.

Keep in mind

Your assigned mentor and coordinator can read the submitted reflection. The board receives only a reviewed, de-identified copy. Private conversations and notes are not automatically included. You cannot edit the submitted record here afterward.

WEEK 1 · COMMUNICATION + FEEDBACK

A handoff keeps going wrong.

A teammate says they understand a revised handoff, but the next shift still receives incomplete information.

Sample learner response“I would remind them of the process and ask them to follow it next time.”
